1. An international institution known as Nalanda University (hereinafter referred to as the "University"), which will be a non-state, non-profit, self-governing international institution is established to achieve the purposes set forth in this Memorandum of Understanding and it will have full academic freedom for the attainment of its objectives.

इस समझौता ज्ञापन में निर्धारित प्रायोजनों को प्राप्त करने के लिए नालंदा विश्वविद्यालय (अब आगे इसके बाद ''विश्वविद्यालय’’ के रूप में उल्लेख किया गया है) के नाम से ज्ञात एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संस्था स्थापित की गई है जो एक गैर राज्य, लाभ न कमाने वाली, स्वशासी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संस्था को भी तथा अपने उद्देश्यों को प्राप्त करने के लिए इसके पास पूर्ण शैक्षिक आजादी होगी।

2. Nalanda University, located in Rajgir in Nalanda District of the State of Bihar, is a non-state, non-profit, self-governing international institution which aims to bring together the brightest and the most dedicated students from all countries for the pursuit of intellectual, philosophical, historical and spiritual studies and thus, achieve qualities of tolerance, accommodation and mutual understanding.

बिहार राज्य के नालंदा जिले में स्थित नालंदा विश्वविद्यालय एक गैर राज्य,गैर लाभ,स्वशासी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संस्था है जिसका उद्देश्य बौद्धिक,दार्शनिक,ऐतिहासिक एवं आध्यात्मिक अध्ययन करने और इस प्रकार सहिष्णुता,सामंजस्य एवं परस्पर समझ के गुण हासिल करने के लिए सभी देशों के मेधावी एवं सबसे अधिक समर्पित छात्रों को एक साथ लाना है।
