रक्षा के क्षेत्र में हमने मोजांबिक की सरकार के अनुरोध पर पहले भी मोजांबिक में आयोजित किए जाने वाले महत्वपूर्ण कार्यक्रमों जैसे वर्ष 2003 में अफ्रीकी संघ शिखर सम्मेलन और विश्व आर्थिक मंच का अफ्रीकी आर्थिक शिखर सम्मेलन और जून, 2004 में ईयू- एसीपी शिखर बैठकों के अवसर पर तटवर्ती सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के लिए पहले भी अपने नौसैनिक जहाज भेजे थे।
