12. Also I think that our recent abstention at the UNHRC vote in Geneva has given us an opening in terms of being able to work even more closely with the Government of Sri Lanka on certain issues.

इसके अलावा, मैं समझती हूँ कि जेनेवा में यू एन एच आर सी में मतदान के समय हाल में हमारी अनुपस्थिति की वजह से हम कतिपय मुद्दों पर श्रीलंका सरकार के साथ पहले से ही करीबी ढंग से काम करने में समर्थ होंगे।

14. Now, as we stand here today, and now that we understand the causes why the Geneva Accords failed, it is pertinent for us to stop and reflect whether we have actually addressed these causes permanently for achieving global peace and ensuring that such repetitions do not occur.

अब, जबकि हम आज यहां खड़े हैं तथा अब जबकि हम उन कारणों को समझते हैं कि क्यों जेनेवा समझौता असफल हुआ, हमारे लिए रूकना एवं इस बात पर मंथन करना संगत है कि क्या हमने वैश्विक शांति प्राप्त करने के लिए और यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए स्थायी रूप से वास्तव में इन कारणों पर ध्यान दिया कि ऐसी पुनरावृत्ति दोबारा न हो।

15. Both presidents also stressed the importance of implementing U.N. Security Council Resolution 2254, and supporting the U.N.-led Geneva Process to peacefully resolve the Syrian civil war, end the humanitarian crisis, allow displaced Syrians to return home, and ensure the stability of a unified Syria free of malign intervention and terrorist safe havens.

दोनों राष्ट्रपतियों ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के प्रस्ताव 2254 को लागू करने के महत्व, और सीरियाई गृह युद्ध के शांतिपूर्ण समाधान, मानवीय संकट की समाप्ति, विस्थापित सीरियाईयों की घर वापसी की अनुमति देने, और दुर्भावनापूर्ण हस्तक्षेप तथा आतंकियों की सुरक्षित पनाहगाहों से मुक्त एक एकीकृत सीरिया की स्थिरता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र की अगुवाई वाली जेनेवा प्रक्रिया को समर्थन देने पर भी ज़ोर दिया।
