Apparemment touché par un conseil que Jésus Christ avait prodigué à un certain homme riche, celui de vendre ses biens et de donner aux pauvres, Vaudès prend des dispositions pour mettre sa famille à l’abri du besoin, puis renonce à ses richesses pour prêcher l’Évangile (Matthieu 19:16-22).
