Solange das Leben währt und solange wir noch Gutes tun können, solange wir für den Aufbau Zions und zum Nutzen der Menschen arbeiten können, sollten wir bereitwillig alles tun, was von uns verlangt wird, sei es klein oder groß.23

This certainty is even stronger for Christians, to whom the Letter to the Hebrews proclaims: "You have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the first-born who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of the just made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks more eloquently than that of Abel" (Heb 12,22-24).

Diese Gewißheit wird noch verstärkt für die Christen, denn der Hebräerbief verkündet: »Ihr seid vielmehr zum Berg Zion hingetreten, zur Stadt des lebendigen Gottes, dem himmlischen Jerusalem, zu Tausenden von Engeln, zu einer festlichen Versammlung und zur Gemeinschaft der Erstgeborenen, die im Himmel verzeichnet sind, zu Gott, dem Richter aller, zu den Geistern der schon vollendeten Gerechten, zum Mittler eines neuen Bundes, Jesus, und zum Blut der Besprengung, das mächtiger ruft als das Blut Abels« (Hebr 12, 22 – 24).

11. “I don’t know of any duty that is more sacred, or more necessary, if it is carried out as it should be, than the duties of the teachers who visit the homes of the people, who pray with them, who admonish them to virtue and honor, to unity, to love, and to faith in and fidelity to the cause of Zion,” he said.48 To further strengthen the families of the Church, in 1915 he and his Counselors in the First Presidency introduced a weekly home evening program to the Church, urging parents to use the time to instruct their children in the word of God.

„Ich kenne keine Aufgabe, die heiliger oder nötiger ist, wenn sie so ausgeführt wird, wie es sein sollte, als die Aufgaben der Lehrer, die die Mitglieder zu Hause besuchen, mit ihnen beten, sie zu Tugend und Ehre ermuntern, zu Einigkeit und Liebe, zum Glauben und zur Treue gegenüber der Sache Zions“, sagte er.48 Um die Familien der Kirche weiter zu stärken, führten er und seine Ratgeber in der Ersten Präsidentschaft das wöchentliche Familienabendprogramm der Kirche ein und forderten die Eltern inständig auf, die Zeit zu nutzen, um ihre Kinder im Wort Gottes zu unterweisen.
