2. 그러나 애통해하고 슬퍼하는 것은 사람을 약해지게 만드는 것이므로(시 6:6, 7; 누 22:45; 행 21:13; 고둘 2:6, 7), 그리스도인의 슬픔의 표현은 언제나 희망 및 힘을 주는 기쁨에 의해 조절되어 균형이 잡히고 상쇄되기까지 하는 것으로 나와 있다.
