1. Resin Acids Resin acids come essentially from softwoods. They include, among others, abietic and pimaric acids.

2. Pines, often the softwoods of choice for many value-added end uses, are particularly susceptible to bluestain.

3. Common Lady's-slipper (Cypripedium acaule) Blooming in June in our open softwoods, this orchid is one of our most beautiful.

4. The main xylan component in hardwoods is O-acetyl-4-O-methylglucuronoxylan, whereas arabino-4-O-methylglucuronoxylans are a major component in softwoods.
