1. 58 As regards ABN Amro’s argument that its dividend policy, on the basis of which it is obliged to pay to the Dutch State a dividend of 40% of the reported annual profit, would prevent it from accumulating funds which could be used for acquisitions, ABN Amro itself recognises that such a policy is the normal means of remunerating shareholders.
