1. The basic behavior of self-induced flotation and externally controlled voltages flotation of pentlandite was investigated.

2. However, the self-induced floatability of pentlandite can not be realized and even hardly be improved by externally controlled voltages in alkaline condition.

3. It was shown that pentlandite exhibit good self-induced floatability in the acidic condition and the self-induced floatability can be changed under externally controlled voltages.

4. It occurs in association with native gold and magnetite in placers; with copper, heazlewoodite, pentlandite, violarite, chromite, and millerite in peridotites; with kamacite, allabogdanite, schreibersite and graphite in meteorites.

5. Two significant alteration assemblages are amphibole (actinolite) + epidote + chlorite + quartz ± albite ± K-feldspar ± calcite adjacent to Cu-rich veins in the Deep Copper Zone of Strathcona mine and the nearby Barnet property, and amphibole (actinolite to ferro-actinolite) + epidote + titanite + pentlandite + pyrite ±quartz ± magnetite in the Fraser mine Epidote Zone.
