1. The path away from terrorism , conquest and enslavement lies in Muslims forthrightly acknowledging jihad ' s historic role , followed by apologies to jihad ' s victims , developing an Islamic basis for nonviolent jihad and ( the hardest part ) actually ceasing to wage violent jihad .
