भारत ने नेपाल के आंतरिक मामलों से स्वयं को अलग रखने की सुविचारित नीति को बनाये रखा है, परंतु हिमालयन राज्य में, जो आधुनिकता और राष्ट्रीय नवीकरण की अपनी यात्रा को स्वयं की शर्तों पर तय कर रहा है, चिर शांति और स्थायित्व लाने के लिए एक समावेशी राजनैतिक प्रक्रिया की निरंतर रूप से मैत्री भाव से वकालत की है।

In December 2008, following the abrupt departure of Chief Executive Patrick Heiniger for "personal reasons", Rolex SA denied that it had lost 1 billion Swiss francs (approx £574 million, $900 million) invested with Bernard Madoff, the American asset manager who pleaded guilty to an approximately £30 billion worldwide Ponzi scheme fraud.

"निजी कारणों" से दिसम्बर 2008 में मुख्य कार्यकारी पैट्रिक हईनिगर के आकस्मिक प्रस्थान के बाद कंपनी इस बात से इनकार किया कि उसे SwFr1 बीलियन (लगभग £574 मीलियन, $900 मीलियन) का नुकसान हुआ है, जिसे बर्नार्ड मेडोफ़ के पास निवेशित किया गया था, जो एक अमेरिकी संपत्ति प्रबंधक था जिस पर विश्व भर में हुई करीब £30 बीलियन पोंज़ी योजना धोखाधड़ी में दोषी पाया गया था।

71. Excessive credit expansion and asset price inflation, both fuelled by so-called "financial innovations” of dubious value, and a lax regulatory environment, led to an accumulation of risk that was not adequately understood and ultimately produced a severe crisis, which even though it began in the developed world, spread rapidly across the world.

व्यापक ऋण विस्तार तथा परिसंपत्तियों के मूल्य में आई असाधारण मुद्रास्फीति, जो संदेहास्पद मूल्य के तथाकथित 'वित्तीय नवाचारों' और कमजोर नियामक पर्यावरण के कारण आई, से ऐसे जोखिम उत्पन्न हुए जिन्हें आरंभ में पर्याप्त तरीके से समझा नहीं जा सका और इसके फलस्वरूप अंतत: एक गंभीर मंदी का सूत्रपात हुआ।

72. Every new state that was born during this period took its place in this Assembly not just with pride but also with hope. 2015 will be a moment to celebrate our successes and to ensure that the UN is ready for this century by completing the much needed reforms of the United Nations and its Security Council, by developing an ambitious and balanced post-2015 Development Agenda and by demonstrating our capacity to cooperate effectively for durable peace and security in this world.

इस अवधि के दौरान अस्तित्व में आने वाले प्रत्येक नए राज्य ने इस महासभा में न केवल गर्व के साथ, बल्कि उम्मीद के साथ भी अपना स्थान प्राप्त किया। 2015 अपनी सफलताओं का जश्न मनाने तथा यह सुनिश्चित करने का वर्ष होगा कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के अत्यंत जरूरी सुधारों को पूरा करके, महत्वकांक्षी एवं संतुलित 2015 पश्चात विकास एजेंडा विकसित करके और इस विश्व में स्थायी शांति एवं सुरक्षा के लिए कारगर ढंग से सहयोग करने की अपनी क्षमता का प्रदर्शन करके संयुक्त राष्ट्र इस शताब्दी के लिए तैयार है।
