1. Since this reaction per se is not specific for pervitine, the organ extract is tested beforehand with formalin-sulfuric acid; a brick-red color, which goes through brown to olive-green shows the presence of pervitine or amphetamine.

Cette réaction n'étant pas spécifique pour la pervitine, on traite au préalable l'extrait d'organe par le réactif formaline-acide sulfurique; l'apparition d'une coloration rouge brique qui passe au brun puis au vert olive indique la présence de pervitine ou de benzedrine.
