Die Ulna ist mit dem Radius (Speiche) durch eine Bandhaft in Form der Membrana interossea antebrachii („Zwischenknochenmembran des Unterarms“) verbunden, die den Zug auf beide Knochen des Unterarms verteilt. Daher brechen meist beide Unterarm-Knochen, obwohl die Elle als einer der stabilsten Knochen gilt.
