1. It is suggested therefore that the “cortical type of hypertensive vascular disease” seen in “atypical” Alzheimer's disease is due to the extraordinary amount of amyloid degeneration of the meningeo-cortical vessels characteristic of these observations and is not caused by hypertension. “Atypical” Alzheimer's disease may therefore be considered a special “vascular” type of presenile dementia.

Es muß daher angenommen werden, daß die song. „corticale Form der hypertonischen Hirngefäßveränderung“ im vorliegenden Fall nicht hypertoniebedingt ist, sondern als Teil einer Angiopathie im Rahmen einer auffallend vasculär betonten Form der Alzheimerschen Erkrankung (Amyloidose der meningeo-corticalen Gefäße) angesehen werden kann.
