Contrary to earlier reports in connection with the analysis of acetylated carbohydrates, the alkalimetric titration of acetic acid was found to be superior to the iodometric titration; and it is shown that accurate acetyl values are obtainable for carbohydrates if one includes in the calculation the correct blank value for the de-acetylated substance.

Im Gegensatz zu früheren Berichten über die Analyse acetylierter Kohlehydrate erwies sich die alkalimetrische Titration der jodometrischen überlegen. Bei Berücksichtigung des Blindwertes für die nichtacetylierte Substanz erhält man auch für Kohlehydrate richtige Acetylwerte.

Optically active monosubstituted derivatives of 9.10-dihydro-9.10-ethanoanthracene (1)—such as the acetyl, formyl and methyl derivatives—were prepared by optical resolutions of the carboxylic acids2 a and2 b and the γ-oxobutyric acids8 a and8 b, resp., and suitable subsequent reactions, whilst from the butyric acids9 (accessible from8) also cyclic ketones (10 and11) were obtained.

Racematspaltung der 9,10-Dihydro-9,10-äthanoanthracen-1-und 2-carbonsäuren bzw.-(γ-oxobuttersäuren) (2 a, 2 b bzw.8 a, 8 b) und geeignete Folgereaktionen machten optisch aktive monosubstituierte Derivate von 9,10-Dihydro-9,10-äthanoanthracen,1 (wie die Acetyl-, Formyl- und Methylderivate) sowie aus den buttersäuren9 (erhalten aus8) auch cyclische Ketone (10 und11) zugänglich.

70. 12 patients with chronic hepatitis and 12 patients with liver cirrhosis as proved by laparascopy and histological examination received peroral doses of 800 or 1200 mg acetanilide. 12 healthy persons of the same age served as a controll. 2, 6 and 24 hrs after giving the dose free N-acetyl-p-aminophenol and its glucuronide were determined in the serum and in 24 hrs urine.

Je 12 Patienten mit laparoskopisch und histologisch gesicherter chronischer Hepatitis und Lebercirrhose erhielten peroral 800 bzw. 1200 mg Acetanilid. Als Kontrolle dienten altersmäßig entsprechende Lebergesunde. 2, 6 und 24 Std nach der Belastung wurden das freie und das an Glucuronsäure gebundene N-acetyl-p-aminophenol im Serum und im 24 Std-Urin bestimmt.
