The Pharisees held that lowly people, who were not versed in the Law, were “accursed.”

2:18, 23) Lowly persons must avoid or eliminate a “fleshly frame of mind.”

4. 그러나 이스라엘 사람들은 불충실했기 때문에 종종 비천한 처지로 전락하여 다른 나라들에 조공을 바치지 않으면 안 되었다.

However, on account of unfaithfulness, the Israelites were often in an inferior position and were forced to pay tribute to others.

5. 따라서 노예들은 자신들의 비천한 처지를, 영광스러운 미래를 위하여 그들을 준비시키려는 하느님의 뜻의 일부로 여기고 기쁘게 받아들여야 한다.’

‘Slaves should therefore accept their humiliation with joy, as part of the divine plan to prepare them for glory.’

6. 그 과학지가 인정하듯, 사람들은 “‘인간 육체 내에는 비천한 기원의 지울 수 없는 흔적이 여전히 내재되어 있다’는 다윈의 견해를 지나치게 용납해 왔다.”

People, admits this scientific journal, “have become too accepting of Darwin’s view that ‘Man still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin.’”

7. 그 결과 그들은 왕국회관을 청소하는 것과 같은 비천한 일은 자신들이 해서 안된다거나 그리스도인 회중의 전파 활동의 모든 부면에 참여하지 않아도 된다고 결코 생각지 않을 것입니다.

As a result, they will never consider themselves above menial tasks, such as cleaning the Kingdom Hall, or above sharing in all features of the Christian congregation’s preaching activities.
