1. The capacity was achieved by increasing storage density on the glass platter and adding one thin-film read-write head.

2. When a brief pulse of electricity is sent to the read/write head it flips on a tiny electromagnet for a fraction of a second.

3. Once the correct track is found, the read-write head must wait for the data to rotate into position. On the average, this takes half a revolution.
