1. Photoelectrons released from the photocathode (40) are accelerated and directed to impinge the phosphor screen (42).

2. Alternatively, the lens array can be used as a cathode lens for a photocathode with several homogenous adjacent emission areas.

3. The storage electrodes (16) in the array receive the electrons from the photocathode layer (14) and accumulate a charge pattern.

4. A novel infrared-sensitive streak image tube with a combined infrared photocathode and electrostatics focused electronic optical system is described.
