1. In 1946, Beecham founded the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), securing an agreement with the Royal Philharmonic Society that the new orchestra should replace the LPO at all the Society's concerts.

2. Founded in 1842 as the Philharmonic Society of New York under the Conductorship of American-born Ureli Corelli Hill, the orchestra merged with Walter Damrosch’s Symphony Society of New York in 1928.
