2. One parsec is the distance a star would have if its observed parallax angle was one arcsecond.

3. Examples of this are “avionics” (from “aviation electronics”) and “parsec” (from parallax and second), an astronomical unit equal to 3.26 light-years.

4. The parsec (parallax arcsecond) is defined in terms of the astronomical unit, being the distance of an object with a parallax of 1 arcsecond.
