1. Single cod (Gadus morhua) and haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus) eggs were acid hydrolized.

2. Of 22 carbohydrates incubated, the midgut hydrolized the α-glucosides amylum, glycogen, maltose, sucrose, trehalose, turanose, the β-glucosides lichenin and cellobiose and the α-galactoside melibiose.

3. The lower Boranes oxidize easily, are spontaneously inflammable in air at low temperatures (below 100° C), and are easily hydrolized by water to form boric acid, with the liberation of hydrogen

4. The remainder presumably was either in the organs which were not examined, or had already alkalized nucleic acids, proteins, etc., or had previously become hydrolized, hence it could give no color reaction.

5. For the decrease of the alpha-cellulose (alkali-resistant polysaccharides), up to 120°C the portion not to be hydrolized (remaining lignin) and beyond 120°C up to 180°C partly the mannan content are responsible.
