1. The sounds of hate, bee, high, bone, few, are the basic diphthongs.

2. A frequent fault is making the diphthongs too long: each element is too clearly articulated.

3. The next two diphthongs are almost exactly the opposite of each other and therefore less likely to be confused.

4. It has also two semivowels, and , that appear in diphthongs, but these can be considered allophones of /i/ and /u/, respectively.

5. You may have noticed that I have not suggested any intensive practice specifically on vowels or their different combinations into diphthongs.

6. The duration radio of each is influenced neither by English nor Chinese diphthongs. The duration pattern of each English diphthong produced by PTHS shows a unique characteristic.
