1. You can use Device Manager to change the power management settings for a network Adapter

2. An example of a motherboard Chipset entry in Device Manager is shown in the picture below.

3. If the Brightness bar is missing, go to control panel, device manager, monitor, PNP monitor, driver tab and click enable

4. As there are multiple entries under System devices in Device Manager, look for an entry that mentions "Chipset" and one of the manufacturers listed above

5. On Windows computers, “ARP Offload” or “NS Offload” or similar enabled within the Advanced Properties of the Network Interface Card (accessed through the Device Manager) signifies Base Capability or better.

6. To disable this setting in Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the Adapter, select Properties, select the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

7. To determine which virtual Comport it has been assigned to, right click the MyComputer icon on your Windows desktop, and select Properties from the popup menu.€ Next, click on the Hardware tab, and click on the Device Manager button
