1. Some of the Christians in Corinth had been ‘fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, greedy persons, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners.’

2. Their transformation reminds us of the words of the apostle Paul: “Neither fornicators . . . , nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.

3. One man, a respected Pharisee, prayed: “God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

4. “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

5. The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

Người Pharisee đứng cầu nguyện thầm như vầy: Lạy Thiên Chúa, tôi tạ ơn Ngài, vì tôi không phải như người khác, tham lam, bất nghĩa, gian dâm, cũng không phải như người thâu thuế này.

6. The Pharisee stood and began to pray these things to himself, ‘O God, I thank you I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

Người Pha-ri-si đứng cầu-nguyện thầm như vầy: Lạy Đức Chúa Trời tôi tạ ơn Ngài, vì tôi không phải như người khác tham-lam, bất-nghĩa, gian-dâm, cũng không phải như người thâu-thuế nầy.

7. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.”

Những kẻ gian dâm, kẻ thờ hình tượng, kẻ ngoại tình, người nam làm dáng yểu điệu, người nam ăn nằm với người nam, kẻ trộm cướp, kẻ tham lam, kẻ say sưa, kẻ chưởi rủa, kẻ bóc lột, đều chẳng hưởng được nước Đức Chúa Trời”.

8. “In my letter I wrote you to stop keeping company with sexually immoral people, not meaning entirely with the sexually immoral people of this world or the greedy people or extortioners or idolaters.

“Trong thư, tôi đã dặn anh em ngưng kết hợp với những kẻ gian dâm, điều đó không có nghĩa là anh em phải hoàn toàn tránh những kẻ gian dâm trong thế gian này, hay là kẻ tham lam, tống tiền hoặc thờ thần tượng.

9. For instance, the Bible states that “neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.”

10. 7 For example, the Bible says: “Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.”

7 Chẳng hạn, Kinh Thánh nói: “Những kẻ tà-dâm, kẻ thờ hình-tượng, kẻ ngoại-tình, kẻ làm giáng yểu-điệu, kẻ đắm nam-sắc, kẻ trộm-cướp, kẻ hà-tiện, kẻ say-sưa, kẻ chưởi-rủa, kẻ chắt-bóp, đều chẳng hưởng được nước Đức Chúa Trời đâu”.

11. Paul enumerated some in his letter to the Corinthians, saying: “Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.”

12. 14 Earlier in his letter to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul made it clear that fornicators, adulterers, idolaters, homosexuals, thieves, greedy persons, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners, all of whom abounded in Corinth, would not be a part of God’s Kingdom.

14 Trong phần trước đó trong lá thư của ông, sứ đồ Phao-lô có nêu rõ rằng hết thảy những kẻ tà dâm, ngoại tình, thờ hình tượng, đồng tính luyến ái, trộm cắp, tham lam, say sưa, chưởi rủa, gian lận đều không hưởng được Nước Đức Chúa Trời.
