1. UNDER a brooding sky, the motor of the single-engine airplane roared as the small craft gathered speed and lifted off the runway.

2. On our first look into the hangar, we see two single-engine airplanes, to be used for towing the gliders into the air, and two motor gliders —each having a small 25-horsepower engine that can be turned off when the plane is airborne.
