1. The Ladkhan is a ponderous construction , essentially a large mandapa standing on a moulded adhishthana with four central pillars , surrounded by two concentric rows of successively lesser height , so that the flat roof over the centre is a raised clerestory , with the slab roofs sloping down on all the four sides over the outer rings of the shorter pillars .
