28. 29. During the rainy season the river waters will actually enter huge areas of North East including Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and adjoining areas and our neighbouring country Bangladesh also will be totally drowned, severe damage will be caused, lakhs of people will be rendered homeless, and property will be damaged.

Today, when the world, and the United States look at our region, they are witness to the rise of India as a democratic nation with proven abilities to manage diverse developmental challenges within its territorial borders, that has increasing ability to promote economic development beyond its borders in its neighbouring countries and farther afield, in Africa, whose skills in the knowledge economy place it in the front ranks of global excellence, is an acknowledged nuclear power with a record of responsible behaviour and adherence to MTCR and NSG guidelines, and whose rapid economic growth place it in the trajectory of becoming the third largest economy in the world.

आज जब विश्व और संयुक्त राज्य अमरीका हमारे क्षेत्र पर नजर डालते हैं, तो वे भारत को एक ऐसे लोकतांत्रिक राष्ट्र के रूप में देखते हैं, जो अपनी क्षेत्रीय सीमाओं के भीतर अपनी विविध विकासात्मक चुनौतियों का प्रबंधन करने की सिद्ध क्षमताएं रखता है और जिसके पास सीमाओं से बाहर अपने पड़ोसी देशों और इससे भी आगे अफ्रीकी देशों में आर्थिक विकास की प्रक्रिया को बढ़ावा देने की क्षमता विद्यमान है।
