1. Israel is abuzz with talk about the promised Messiah.

इस्राएल में हर तरफ यही चर्चा हो रही है कि वादा किया हुआ मसीहा कौन हो सकता है।

2. (John 4:23) They showed that by their not accepting the miracle-working Messiah.

(यूहन्ना ४:२३) उन्होंने यह उस चमत्कार-करनेवाले मसीहा को अस्वीकार करके दिखाया।

3. (John 19:23, 24) Some claim that the “Holy Coat” actually belonged to the Messiah.

(यूहन्ना १९:२३, २४) कुछ लोग दावा करते हैं कि “पवित्र चोग़ा” असल में मसीहा का था।

4. AT LAST the time had come for the aged man to set eyes on the promised Messiah!

आख़िरकार उस वृद्ध पुरुष के लिए प्रतिज्ञात मसीहा को अपनी आँखों से देखने का समय आ पहुँचा था!

5. Why, though, did many of Jesus’ own people deny all this evidence that he was the Messiah?

परन्तु, यीशु के अपने ही लोगों में से इतनों ने क्यों उसके मसीहा होने के इन सब प्रमाणों से इन्कार किया?

6. The Messiah, he explained, is “Lord of the sabbath” and therefore entitled to cure people on the Sabbath.

यीशु ने समझाया कि मसीहा “सब्त के दिन का भी प्रभु है” और इसलिए सब्त के दिन उसे बीमारों को चंगा करने का पूरा-पूरा अधिकार है।

7. Instead of esteeming the arrival of the Messiah, the primary part of Abraham’s offspring, the nation rejected him.

8. To the Jews in general, it was blasphemous for Jesus’ followers to claim that this impaled man was the Messiah.

9. He thus was in position to accept the Messiah and become his baptized disciple, thereby coming in line with God’s progressive will.

10. By the time the Messiah came to fulfill the Law, the “ship” was so encrusted with “barnacles” that it was barely afloat!

11. 11 Although Jesus had overwhelming credentials proving that he was the Messiah, the vast majority of the first-century Jews did not acclaim him.

11 हालाँकि यीशु को मसीहा साबित करनेवाले ढेरों सबूत मौजूद थे, फिर भी पहली सदी के ज़्यादातर यहूदियों ने उसे मसीहा स्वीकार नहीं किया।

12. Under the direction of God’s holy spirit, or active force, the Hebrew Scriptures supplied glimmers of light on the forthcoming Messiah, or Seed.

परमेश्वर के पवित्र आत्मा, या सक्रिय शक्ति, के नियंत्रण में, इब्रानी शास्त्रों ने आनेवाले मसीहा, या वंश, के विषय पर रोशनी की कुछ झलकें दीं।

13. Some scholars suggest that the phrase ‘sprout of Jehovah’ is an allusion to the Messiah, who would not appear until after the restoration of Jerusalem.

15. In the meantime, Jehovah’s purpose unfailingly advanced through the chosen genealogical line down to Jesus’ appearing as the promised Messiah. —Luke 3:15, 23-38; Galatians 4:4.

16. 5 Before the advent of Christianity and to some extent during the early centuries of the Common Era, a few Jewish scholars did apply this prophecy to the Messiah.

19. (John 11:32-36) In fact, the Gospels reveal the wide range of Jesus’ feelings —sympathy for a person with leprosy, exuberance over his disciples’ successes, indignation at coldhearted legalists, and sadness over Jerusalem’s rejection of the Messiah.

(यूहन्ना 11:32-36, NHT) दरअसल सुसमाचार की किताबें, यीशु की कई भावनाओं को ज़ाहिर करती हैं। जैसे कि एक कोढ़ी को दया दिखाना, अपने चेलों की कामयाबी पर खुशी से फूला न समाना, नियमों पर अड़े रहनेवाले पत्थरदिल इंसानों पर क्रोधित होना और इस बात पर दुःख ज़ाहिर करना कि यरूशलेम ने मसीहा को ठुकरा दिया।

20. Paul circumcised Timothy because they would be going to the homes and synagogues of Jews who knew that Timothy’s father was a Gentile, and the apostle wanted nothing to bar access to Jewish men and women who needed to learn about the Messiah.

पौलुस ने तीमुथियुस का ख़तना किया, इसलिए कि वे यहूदियों के घरों और आराधनालयों में जानेवाले थे, जो कि जानते थे कि तीमुथियुस का पिता अन्यजातीय व्यक्ति था, और प्रेरित नहीं चाहता था कि कोई भी बात उन्हें यहूदी पुरुषों और स्त्रियों को मिलने से रोकने पाए, जिन्हें मसीहा के बारे में जानना ज़रूरी था।

21. That the one who was condemned by the Great Sanhedrin on a charge of blasphemy and thereafter impaled on a torture stake like an accursed criminal could be the Messiah was thus completely alien, unacceptable, and repellent to their mentality.

इसलिए यह मानना उनके लिए एकदम नया, अस्वीकार्य और घृणित विचार था कि जिसे महासभा ने ईशनिंदा का दोषी ठहराकर एक श्रापित अपराधी की तरह यातना स्तंभ पर लटकाया, वही मसीहा है।

22. 20 The effects of the activity of the Messiah are permanent, as we see from Isaiah’s next words: “The yoke of their load and the rod upon their shoulders, the staff of the one driving them to work, you have shattered to pieces as in the day of Midian.”
