1. The base of the colossus is surrounded by a malika of granite , built by Gangaraya , the minister of Hoysala Vishnuvardhana ( 1110 - 1152 ) , and the mandapa abutting the lower part of the colossus from behind was built by another minister , Baladeva , in the twelfth century .

इस विशाल मूर्ति का आधार हायसल विष्णुवर्धन ( 1110 - 1152 ) के मंत्रि गंगराय द्वारा बनवाई गई मालिका से घिरा हुआ है . पीछे से मूर्ति के निम्न भाग से जुडा हुआ मंडप एक अन्य मंत्रि बलदेव द्वारा बारहवीं शताब्दी में बनवाया गया था .
