फिर, किसान पूरे ढेर को बेलचे से तेज़ हवा में उछाल-उछालकर फटकता था, जिससे गेहूँ वहीं ज़मीन पर गिर जाते थे, जबकि तेज़ हवा भूसे को दूर उड़ा ले जाती थी।

सौंफ दाँवने के लिए छड़ी काम आती है, जीरे के लिए सोंटा, और जिस अनाज की भूसी सख्त होती है उसके लिए दाँवने का तख्ता या पटिया, या फिर बैलगाड़ी का पहिया इस्तेमाल होता है।
