1. The Aeolian islands are facing the volcanic basin while the marginal retroarch is the abysmal level of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

2. The city lies at 12 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the Maremma, at the centre of an alluvional plain, at the Ombrone river.

La cathédrale (1780-1832) domine la ville moderne.

MILAZZO is deeply rooted into prehistoric times and was slowly built up along a sinuous and variegated dorsal that stretches out into the Tyrrhenian Sea for 7 km after the earth movements that formed the bold outline of its promontory on the directrix of the Aeolian Islands. Thanks to the splendid climate, the superb, restful panorama of the Archipelago, standing out on the horizon in a myriad of light and colour, can nearly always be seen from here.

Milazzo Ses origines se perdent dans la Prèhistoire, elle s’est formèe graduellement au cours du temps, suite à des bouleversements telluriens qui crèèrent le profil hardi de son promontoire en direction des Iles Eoliennes, le long d’une chaìne sinueuse et accidentèe qui s’ètend le long de la Mer Tirrhènienne sur sept km., et d’où l’on peut presque toujours jouir, grace aux conditions climatiques exceptionneles, du panorama magnifique et reposant de l’Archipel se dètachant à l’horizon en un fondu inimitabl de jeux de lumière et de couleurs.
