Dans tous les locaux d'habitation et dans les locaux autres que les locaux de machines dans lesquels l'équipage est normalement appelé à travailler, les escaliers et les échelles doivent être conçus de manière à permettre une évacuation rapide vers le pont exposé et, de là, vers les embarcations et radeaux de sauvetage.
