6. Providing support for education and training for capacity-building in developing countries through the regional centres for space science and technology education, affiliated to the United Nations;

L’aide à l’enseignement et à la formation afin de renforcer les capacités des pays en développement, en faisant appel aux centres régionaux de formation aux sciences et techniques spatiales affiliés à l’ONU;

7. The Committee noted with appreciation the offer conveyed by Canada on behalf of the Institute of Air and Space Law of McGill University to contribute to the introduction and teaching of the curriculum at the regional centres for space science and technology education, affiliated to the United Nations, at no cost to the Office for Outer Space Affairs.

Le Comité a noté avec satisfaction l’offre faite par le Canada, au nom de l’Institut du droit aérien et spatial de l’Université McGill, de contribuer au lancement et à l’enseignement du programme dans les centres régionaux de formation aux sciences et techniques spatiales affiliés à l’ONU, sans aucune dépense pour le Bureau des affaires spatiales.

8. Further build up a knowledge network of well-respected practitioners, thinkers and academicians, who work in the cutting edge of their fields of natural and social sciences, including physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, economics, sociology, law, ethics, anthropology, medicine and linguistics, to advance the holistic conceptualization of a new economic paradigm that reflects the principles, drivers and values of living in harmony with nature, relying on current scientific information, particularly from centres of excellence on space science, which portray findings in a visual format;

Within the framework of the ICG workplan, the Office for Outer Space Affairs has conducted the following activities: (a) a session on ionospheric storms and space weather effects during the twelfth International Symposium on Equatorial Aeronomy, held in Heraklion, Greece, from # to # ay # co-organized with the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific, the United States and ICG; (b) the International Training Course on Satellite Navigation and Location-Based Services, held in Ahmedabad, India, from # une to # uly # and (c) the ICG expert meeting on global navigation satellite systems and services on # uly # during the thirty-seventh Scientific Assembly of the Committee on Space Research, held in Montreal, Canada, from # to # uly
