1. The third version, entitled Vergißmeinnicht (Forget-me-not), was sent to Friedrich Mayer, who was at that time prebendary and choirmaster of the St. Florian Abbey, to remind him of the promise to provide Bruckner with an employment in the Abbey after his successful teacher examination.

La troisième version, intitulée Vergißmeinnicht (Ne m'oubliez pas), a été adressée à Friedrich Mayer, qui était à l'époque prébendier et maître de chapelle de l'Abbaye de Saint-Florian, pour lui rappeler sa promesse de procurer à Bruckner un emploi à l'Abbaye après l'obtention de son agrégation d'instituteur.
