1. Finding great difficulty confronting the loss of his beloved cow, as well the loss of livestock that affects his social stature at the village, Hassan gradually goes insane following a nervous breakdown and believes he is the cow, adopting such mannerisms as eating hay.

Ayant de grandes difficultés à affronter la perte de sa vache favorite, et perdant ainsi son statut et son attachement social au sein de la communauté villageoise, Hassan se plonge graduellement dans une psychose, et par une assimilation maladive se voit dans la peau de sa vache, adoptant des manières animales.
