According to a 2007 interim report on the characteristics of housing and the living environment of the population by the National Institute of Statistics, more than half the population (57.14 per cent) live in traditional housing built with local materials (adobe, clay, wood and straw); 25.8 per cent in dwelling huts (using the same materials); and 8.8 per cent in permanent structures.

Selon le rapport provisoire sur « les caractéristiques de l’habitat et cadre de vie des populations » produit en 2007 par l’INS : plus de la moitié des nigériens (57,14%) vit dans des logements traditionnels où le type d’habitation est en matériaux locaux (banco, argile, bois, paille) ; 25,80% dans les cases type d’habitation (cases de même genre); 8,80% dans les maisons en dur.
