1. Boivin was one of the leading alpinists of his era, making solo ascents of some of the hardest routes in the Alps during the 1970s: the Albinoni-Gabarrou goulotte on Mont Blanc du Tacul in 1972, the Lagarde-Ségogne on the Aiguille du Plan in 1976 and the Bonatti-Zapelli on the Grand Pilier d'Angle in 1978.

Boivin est un leader de l'alpinisme de son époque, faisant des ascensions solos des voies les plus difficiles dans les Alpes durant les années 1970 : la goulotte Albinoni-Gabarrou sur le mont Blanc du Tacul en 1972, la voie Lagarde-Ségogne sur l'aiguille du Plan en 1976 et la Bonatti-Zapelli sur le Grand Pilier d'Angle en 1978.
