I receive you with great joy on the occasion of the International Congress for which all the Abbots of your Confederation and the Superiors of independent Priories meet in Rome every four years to reflect on and discuss ways to embody the Benedictine charism in the present social and cultural context and respond to its ever new challenges to Gospel witness.

Mit großer Freude empfange und begrüße ich euch anläßlich des internationalen Kongresses, der alle vier Jahre die Äbte eurer Konföderation und die Oberen der unabhängigen Priorate in Rom zusammenführt, um über die Möglichkeiten nachzudenken und zu beraten, wie das benediktinische Charisma im heutigen sozialen und kulturellen Umfeld konkret verwirklicht werden soll und wie auf die immer neuen Herausforderungen, vor die es das Zeugnis für das Evangelium stellt, geantwortet werden kann.
