Preliminary results of the ACCORDION study, a follow-up study of the ACCORD (Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes) study, confirmed the results of ACCORD that in patients with diabetes intense blood pressure lowering reduced the primary endpoint only in a statistically nonsignificant manner.

Hierbei handelt sich um eine Nachbeobachtungsstudie der ACCORD-Studie (ACCORD: „action to control cardiovascular risk in diabetes“). Erste öffentlich präsentierte Resultate bestätigten die Ergebnisse von ACCORD, dass durch eine intensive Blutdrucksenkung der primäre Endpunkt lediglich statistisch nichtsignifikant gesenkt werden kann.
