1. It is Jesus, God made man, who died on the Cross and who fills the abyss of sin with the depth of his mercy.

Und Jesus, der Mensch geworden und am Kreuz gestorben ist, füllt den Abgrund der Sünde mit dem Abgrund seiner Barmherzigkeit.

2. If God foreknew and decreed Adam’s fall into sin, then Jehovah became the author of sin when he made man and he would be responsible for all human wickedness and suffering.

Hätte Gott den Sündenfall Adams vorhergewußt und vorherbestimmt, dann wäre Jehova der Urheber der Sünde geworden, als er den Menschen erschuf, und damit für alle Bosheit der Menschen und alles Leid verantwortlich geworden.

3. Advent, therefore, is a favourable time for the rediscovery of a hope that is not vague and deceptive but certain and reliable, because it is "anchored" in Christ, God made man, the rock of our salvation.

Der Advent ist somit eine günstige Zeit, um eine Hoffnung wiederzuentdecken, die nicht ungewiß oder illusorisch ist, sondern gewiß und verläßlich, da sie in Christus »verankert« ist, dem Mensch gewordenen Gott, Fels unseres Heils.
