1. Though our knowledge of ablation techniques and technical prerequisites is continuously increasing, the difficulty to produce complete linear lesions in the left atrium and local thrombus formation at the ablation line are problems that are still not solved.

Zusammenfassend kann festgehalten werden, daß eine Ablation bei fokal getriggertem Vorhofflimmern und im Rahmen von herzchirurgischen Eingriffen möglich ist. Die transvenöse Katheterablation von Vorhofflimmern ist mit dem momentan verfügbaren Equipment als experimentell zu beurteilen.
