All these plant communities, natural and man-made, include many types of papilionaceous plants: clovers (Trifolium), melilots (Melilothus), vetches (Vicia), medicks (Medicago), vetchlings (Lathyrus) and bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus), the nectar of which contains a number of alkaloids, glycosides and essential oils.
