1. Karyological studies on tropical woody Angiosperms are essential for the systematics of the group, for an understanding of the evidently distinctive tropical evolutionary patterns, and for the elucidation of ecological-geographical differentiations in tropical floras and their temperate derivatives.

Karyologische Untersuchungen an tropischen Holzpflanzen der Angiospermen sind für die Systematik dieser Gruppe, für ein Verständnis der offenbar andersartigen tropischen Evolutionsmuster und für die Klärung der ökologisch-geographischen Differenzierung tropischer und davon abgeleiteter temperater Floren von entscheidender Bedeutung.

2. As a contribution to the elucidation of the influence of different testing conditions on the water absorption of insulation boards the influence of the temperature of the water, the position of the specimens in the water, their size and the protection of the edges was examined.

Als Beitrag zur Klärung dieser Fragen wurden Untersuchungen über den Einfluß der Wassertemperatur, der Lage der Proben in Wasser, der Probengröße und des Kantenschutzes durchgeführt.
