Während der Unruhen in der kalabrischen Ebene von Gioia Tauro wurden zwei afrikanische Erntehelfer von Karabinerschüssen getroffen. Seither beobachtet man aufmerksam die Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen der illegalen Einwanderer, die nun dazu gezwungen wurden, die Stadt zu verlassen.
