1. In addition to injuries to the pinna otologic traumatology comprises in particular injuries of the tympanic membrane and ossicular chain, temporal bone fractures together with accompanying impairment of the labyrinth and facial nerve as well as acoustic trauma and barotrauma.

Die Traumatologie als wesentlicher Teilbereich der HNO-Heilkunde umfasst neben Verletzungen der Ohrmuschel im otologischen Bereich insbesondere Verletzungen des Trommelfells und der Ossikelkette, laterale Schädelbasisfrakturen mit gegebenenfalls begleitenden Labyrinth- und Fazialisschädigungen sowie im weiteren Sinne auch die Commotio labyrinthi, die akustischen Traumata (akustischer Unfall, Knalltrauma, Explosionstrauma und akutes Lärmtrauma) und die Barotraumata.
