1. Deprivation amblyopia is discussed in its` neuropathological basics and current therapeutical methods such as lentectomy, correction of aphakia and postoperative optic rehabilitation are introduced.

Neben einer erfolgreichen und komplikationsfreien Operation sind daher die frühe Diagnosestellung und eine intensive postoperative Amblyopietherapie von allergrößter Bedeutung.

2. Problematical cases in spite of equal eye lengths in her eye pairs are patients presenting an unilateral cataract and an ametropia of the phakic fellow eye of 3 diopters or more. The same is true for patients showing an unilateral cataract for a planned pseudo-phakia and on the partner eye a conventionally e.i. an emmetropising and well tolerated contact lens corrected aphakia.

Problemfälle trotz seitengleicher Achsenlängen sind Patienten mit einseitiger Katarakt und Ametropie des phak bleibenden Partnerauges von mehr als 3 Dioptrien ebenso wie Patienten mit geplanter Pseudophakie bei einseitiger Katarakt und einer konventionell, d. h. emmetropisierend kontaktlinsenkorrigierten Aphakie des Partnerauges, welche vom Patienten gut vertragen wird.
