Process for preparing isomer-free 2,4,6-trimethylacetophenone by reacting mesitylene with an acetylating agent in the presence of aluminium chloride, characterized in that the reaction takes place in excess mesitylene as the solvant and in the absence of moisture at temperatures from -10 to approximately +50 °C.

Verfahren zur Herstellung von isomerenfreiem 2,4,6-Trimethylacetophenon durch Umsetzung von Mesitylen mit einem Acetylierungsmittel in Gegenwart von Aluminiumchlorid, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Umsetzung in überschüssigem Mesitylen als Lösungsmittel unter Ausschluß von Feuchigkeit bei Temperaturen von etwa -10 bis etwa +50 °C vornimmt.
